Writing
I’ve written extensively for the BBC throughout my career but am very proud to also have bylines with The Guardian, National Geographic, Stylist, Refinery29 and the i, to name but a few. As a confident generalist, few topics are out of bounds and the same goes for format - features, explainers and long reads across lifstyle, health, science and food, I’ve written and edited them all. Below is selection of work from throughout my career.
Smelling O2 by Impulse again almost made me cry | Stylist
I had a 10cm ovarian cyst but doctors didn't believe me | Refinery29
I fell in love with my childhood home and uncovered its secrets | Who Do You Think You Are?
The scruffy hosting trend is transforming dinner parties - and I'm leaning into it | BBC Food
I walked the Oldham Way and found there was something for everyone | Trail
How genome sequencing got ahead of an unrelenting pandemic | Quadram Institute
The man who lives in a blue tin box miles from anywhere | Reach
Is gluten-free healthier? Here's what I wish people knew before cutting it out | BBC Food
Editing
I edited hundreds of features in my staff roles at the BBC website but these are just a few of my favourites. I specialised in long reads and was particularly interested in highlighting injustice, particularly against women, but also those stories that celebrated their achievements.
The Sri Lankan babies who were given away - BBC World Service
The boarding school monster who always walked free - BBC News
Who was the 'Thai bride' dumped in the hills? - BBC News
What happened to Claudia Lawrence? - BBC News
Swimmers 'ruined' by culture of fat-shaming - BBC News
The woman who fought South Africa's marriage laws... and won - BBC World Service
Why this harbour master has spent her life at sea - BBC News
I've spent my life in fear of being called fat - BBC News
The homeless teen who studied by candlelight - BBC News
Murder and fraud: What happened to Carole Packman? - BBC News

I also have a Substack where I write about everything from the best Welsh beaches to the books I’ve rated and hated so far this year.
